Just weeks after its initial launch, Meta is moving swiftly to cement its personal AI agent, Muse, as the cornerstone of its consumer technology ecosystem. During the opening keynote at the company’s annual Connect event in Menlo Park on Wednesday, CEO Mark Zuckerberg made it clear that the social media giant is placing its largest bet yet on consumer artificial intelligence, outlining an aggressive roadmap to weave the software deeply into the daily digital and physical lives of users. Dressed in khakis and a black T-shirt bearing the phrase "Building is My Love Language," Zuckerberg framed the technology not merely as a chatbot, but as the foundation of a transformative computing shift. The centerpiece of our vision for what we are building is Muse, Zuckerberg told the audience of developers, media, and industry insiders. In the coming years, he added, he expects Muse to evolve into a personal superintelligence relied upon by billions of people around the world to achieve their goals and improve their daily routines. Meta has positioned Muse as a more accessible and immediately useful alternative to competing agentic software on the market, aiming to eliminate routine administrative busywork right out of the box. Zuckerberg also laid out Meta’s long-term monetization strategy for the platform. The company plans to offer Muse free of charge for a substantial volume of computing tokens, anticipating that future revenue will be generated through a small transactional fee taken when the agent successfully facilitates purchases or services on behalf of the user. Muse Gets Its Own Digital Avatar Among the most visually striking announcements at Connect was the introduction of a digital avatar system for Muse. Powered by a new AI model called Muse Realtime Avatar, the feature allows users to generate a distinct visual representation of their specific AI agent complete with a face, body, and voice, and then engage in real-time video chats with it. The development represents a tangible step toward giving Meta’s otherwise invisible software a distinct personality and physical presence, carrying distinct echoes of the company’s broader metaverse ambitions. During a live stage demonstration, presenters showed how users will be able to converse naturally with the avatar, pose complex questions, and delegate multi-step projects through a face-to-face interface. Expanding beyond screens, Meta announced that Muse is being tightly integrated into its wearable smart glasses lineup. Users will soon be able to communicate with the agent simply by speaking to their glasses using a designated wake word. Meta demonstrated how the eyewear integration will allow the agent to guide individuals through customized workouts, log meals throughout the day, manage appointment scheduling, and assist with purchasing products encountered in the physical world. According to company executives, Muse will operate largely in the background while performing these tasks, returning to update the user only when the job is fully completed. While an exact rollout date for the smart glasses and avatar integrations has not been finalized, Meta anticipates launching these capabilities in the coming months. Soon, You’ll Be Able to Let Muse Run Your Mac Meta also provided deeper insights into its previously announced initiative to bring Muse’s agentic capabilities to desktop environments, specifically targeting Apple’s macOS. This integration will allow users to delegate complex professional and administrative workflows to the AI, enabling Muse to operate desktop applications independently much like prominent agentic systems developed by OpenAI and Anthropic. You can have it help you run your small business, or just get work done for you, said Meta’s chief AI officer, Alexandr Wang, during the keynote presentation. You can walk away from your computer and it keeps working for you on all the jobs you lined up. The capability is envisioned as a powerful productivity booster for independent professionals and small business operators, capable of handling multifaceted operations across different software suites without requiring constant human oversight. Muse Will Get Its Own Email Address Because Muse is designed to operate continuously in the background across various platforms, Meta has recognized the necessity of giving the agent its own dedicated email address. Wang announced that this functionality is currently under development and will debut soon, though a precise release schedule was not disclosed. Once available, users will be able to directly include Muse in existing email chains, or forward messages to the agent so it can draft responses, coordinate schedules, and manage communications independently. To facilitate commerce and shopping workflows, Meta has established strategic partnerships with major financial and retail infrastructure providers, including Stripe and Shopify. Wang explained that Muse possesses the architectural capability to navigate the entire Shopify catalog agentically, utilizing infrastructure like Lync and Shop Pay to execute purchases safely across the broader internet, alongside newly expanded support for PayPal transactions. The company also revealed a wave of high-profile retail and service partnerships. Muse will soon possess native connectors for popular consumer applications operated by Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart, Wayfair, and Expedia, with Instacart integration slated to follow shortly. Other productivity and technical connectors mentioned include GitHub, Granola, and Notion. In an effort to expand the ecosystem beyond corporate partnerships, Meta recently opened its development platform to allow third-party creators to build custom connectors for Muse. Wang reported an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response to the initiative, noting that the company received more than 1,500 applications from developers in less than a week. He described the moment as a generational opportunity to build for an emerging technological platform as it accelerates into the mainstream.
