Finnish game developer Fingersoft has officially announced that its collaborative title, Lego Hill Climb Adventures, is coming to an end, with the studio winding down live operations for the mobile game over the course of the next several months.

The wind-down process will begin later this year, leading up to the complete removal of the title from major digital storefronts. According to the studio, in-app purchases within the standard version of Lego Hill Climb Adventures will officially cease on October 23rd, 2026. Following this cutoff, the game is scheduled to be completely pulled from the major app stores in December 2026.

However, players who have already downloaded the title onto their devices will maintain access to the game well into the following year. Fingersoft has confirmed that any in-game currency that users have already acquired through prior in-app purchases will remain fully available to spend during this extended wind-down window. The exact final termination date for existing players has not yet been locked in with absolute precision, but Fingersoft has indicated to the community that fans will be able to continue playing both "into 2027" and "through 2027" as the servers and client support gradually sunset.

Despite the difficult decision to pull the plug on the live-service title, Fingersoft has delivered positive news regarding the internal team behind the project. Unlike many standard game industry wind-downs that frequently result in immediate downsizing, the studio has confirmed that no employees will face layoffs as a result of the end of service for Lego Hill Climb Adventures. Fingersoft has assured the public and its workforce that the skills and experience of the development team will continue to play an important role moving forward. Team members who previously worked on the Lego collaboration are now transitioning to form part of a specialized prototyping team dedicated to exploring the next generation of Fingersoft games.

A Hill Too Steep

Lego Hill Climb Adventures first launched globally in 2024, arriving nearly 18 months after the title initially entered its regional beta testing phase. The project represented a significant crossover between Fingersoft’s signature physics-based driving mechanics, popularized by the massively successful Hill Climb Racing franchise, and the globally recognized brick-building toy empire of The Lego Group.

In a public post shared online, Fingersoft reflected on the project, stating that Lego Hill Climb Adventures has "meant a lot" to the studio as a unique opportunity to work directly alongside The Lego Group and to explore the iconic brand in an entirely new format. The studio expressed deep gratitude to Lego for placing trust in the development partnership, while also extending heartfelt thanks to the dedicated fans who invested their time into playing the game, particularly those who went out of their way to solve every hidden mystery tucked away within the virtual Lego worlds.

"Your support, feedback and enthusiasm have meant a lot to us and to the team behind the game. Thank you for joining us on this adventure, and we hope to see you keep climbing," Fingersoft said in its address to the community.

The company also took to professional networking platform LinkedIn to characterize the commercial and operational reality of the project, describing the situation metaphorically as encountering "a hill too steep to conquer and share." Ultimately, the title did not manage to meet the necessary criteria required to justify continuing ongoing operations and live-service maintenance.

While the primary standalone release of the game is heading toward a complete shutdown, there is a notable exception for subscribers of a major gaming platform. The Apple Arcade version of the game, which carries the title Lego Hill Climb Adventures+, will remain fully available and operational for Apple’s subscribers even after the standard, free-to-play base game has been permanently closed and removed from public storefronts.
